A brand new page so you can keep updated with what’s happening in the world of 14 & Sixpence!

Updated: 22nd March 2020
It is with a very heavy heart that I feel now is the time that we need to temporarily close our doors to any new brides, due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

We will not take any appointments for new customers until further notice, & focusing on those with upcoming dresses – I thank you for your understanding, & would love to welcome you to visit us when we return to ‘normality’ hopefully in the not too distant future.

Never did I think last week that we were heading for so much uncertainty in the way we live our daily lives.
Sadly we have had several weddings & proms postpone, leaving our girls feeling a little lost. I just wanted to outline our plans at this current time, & offer a virtual hug & some reassurance, but please check for our latest updates – here & on our Facebook page. I’ve also added a Q&A below that may hopefully help.

Whether it be at the shop in the office, or at home – I want to re-assure everyone that I will be continually working to ensure our 14 & Sixpence Brides & Prom girls are looked after, whilst we all stay safe.  I will be on hand for anyone who feels they need to visit – to collect their dress, need help or advice etc…

Please get in touch if there is anything you need by email or Facebook, & I will contact you as soon as I can.

Stay safe & much love,

Cathy

Coronavirus Related Q&A

Q. I’ve placed an order for a dress – is everything ok?

A. Yes. I will keep in touch with you to ensure all is on schedule, & let you know as soon as your dress arrives.

We are lucky to work with some fantastic designers. Currently most factories are seeing a little impact, but only a matter of weeks. Everyone is monitoring the situation, & we will be sure to contact you as early as we can with any changes to expected deliveries.

Q. Can I still bring all my friends & family to my appointments?

A. As a nation – we are practicing social distancing & to maintain the health & safety of ourselves & those precious to you – we will be moving from 3-4 recommended guests to just 1-2.

Q. I have purchased a dress from you with a deposit – What happens now?

A. Your dress is nice & safe & your balance will still be due in the original 4 month period from when you purchased your dress. For ease, & safety – payments can be made over the phone with a card, or by bank transfer. Please contact us if you need the account information sent to you.

Q. Can I collect my dress?

A. Absolutely – you can take home your dress as long as your balance is clear. Any outstanding balance can be paid in the ways mentioned above. Please contact me via email or Facebook to arrange a time to collect.

Q. As my prom is postponed – I’m not sure I’ll need my dress – Can you help?
A. From conversations so far – it seems that schools will be trying to put on another event or reschedule prom at a later date. Obviously at this unprecedented time – no-one has any idea of timescales, but we’re hoping that you will get to wear your beautiful dress at some point!
Sadly our policy has to remain as ‘no refunds’ purely because of the nature of the business.

Q. My wedding/prom has been postponed – Can I store my dress I have already purchased from you?

A. We always have storage options available at £10 per month (to a maximum charge of £50). Storage is available once your dress has been fully paid, & during this unprecedented time – we would like to offer any of our girls that have had their event cancelled, the availability of storing their dress here free of charge to minimize any  further stress at this emotional time.  Please contact us for more information.

Q. My alterations are half way through – what happens now?
A. We are currently pressing the ‘virtual pause’ button. As soon as everything is ready to go again we can resume where we left off. We will have an appointment to re-asses & may need to re-pin to ensure the fit of your dress, but if you have any concerns over this aspect, please contact our dedicated seamstress Clare who can advise best:
